Here is the first album by young Parisian quintet LE REVEIL DES TROPIQUES. The band comprises members from various backgrounds (free improv, noise, post-rock, post-punk…) and various bands (FAREWELL POETRY, ONE SECOND RIOT, CASSE GUEULE, TESTA ROSSA, ULAN BATOR, LOOKING FOR JOHN G, etc).
After a few short months together, the band decided to lock themselves up for two days and three nights of long psychedelic improvising that would end up becoming their first album.
The result is these nine tracks that range from long experimental soundscapes, kraut-rock-like grooves and aggressive crescendos reminiscent of CAN, MOGWAI or PINK FLOYD to some more concise and noisy numbers that may look back to the early work of SONIC YOUTH.
A spontaneous occurrence, this record by LE REVEIL DES TROPIQUES opens a bright and unexpected window into the rock world and would appear to be an ideal soundtrack for the upcoming end of the world the Mayas have scheduled.

Voici le premier album éponyme du REVEIL DES TROPIQUES, nouveau quintet parisien composé de membres venant de divers horizons musicaux (noise-rock, post-rock) et issus de nombreux groupes (FAREWELL POETRY, ONE SECOND RIOT, CASSE GUEULE, TESTA ROSSA, ULAN BATOR, LOOKING FOR JOHN G, etc.)
Après quelques mois d'existence, décidant que l'avenir de la musique sera l'onirisme et le psychédélisme, le groupe s'isole pendant deux jours et trois nuits pour de longues sessions d'improvisation qui aboutiront à l'enregistrement de leur premier album.
Composé de neuf titres aux longueurs diverses, le résultat oscille entre de longues plages expérimentales aux accents kraut-rock avec des montées agressives rappelant CAN, MOGWAI ou PINK FLOYD et des morceaux plus bruitistes et concis qui lorgnent vers les premiers opus de SONIC YOUTH.
Par sa spontanéité, ce disque du REVEIL DES TROPIQUES pose son empreinte ensoleillée et originale dans le microcosme rock et semble la bande son idéale pour la fin du monde maya programmée cette année.

"Adrien et Arnaud m'avaient parlé de leur nouveau projet psyché-kraut improvisé. J'avais écouté quelques enregistrements, mais j'étais assez circonspect. Après avoir vu le groupe sur scène à Villette Sonique, j'ai rapidement changé d'avis car j'ai trouvé que la batterie lourde et agressive amenait vraiment un plus dans le projet, contrastant avec les autres groupes de ce genre. Je ne connaissais pas Frédéric et Stéphane qui jouent dans FAREWELL POETRY mais on a tout de suite eu un super feeling en se rencontrant. Adrien ayant longuement habité rue Rodier (également adresse de la boutique), l'alliance entre Music Fear Satan et Le Réveil Des Tropiques était inéluctable." (Nicolas/ Music Fear Satan)
