HANGMAN'S CHAIR from Paris is back this year with its fourth album, This is not supposed to be positive produced by Francis Caste. Over the years and the records, the band has gone beyond their early stoner/doom sound and now finds its own style with colder and simpler songs (still heavy though) and more melodic vocals with Cedric (singer/guitarist) fantastic voice that reminds us of the 90s downtempo hardcore bands like LIFE OF AGONY, ONLY LIVING WITNESS or SECTION 8. Of course, the main inspiration is ALICE IN CHAINS but we can hear some gothic metal touches like TYPE O'NEGATIVE or even THE CURE. With this new record, HANGMAN'S CHAIR simply becomes the best French stoner/doom act.

Les parisiens d'HANGMAN'S CHAIR reviennent en 2015 avec leur quatrième album "This is not supposed to be positive", toujours produit par Francis Caste (Studio Sainte Marthe). Au fil du temps et des albums, leurs premières influences stoner et doom s'étiolent petit à petit pour faire place à leur propre style avec des morceaux plus froids et épurés mais toujours avec la même lourdeur et des plus en plus de mélodies vocales, servies par la voix fabuleuse du chanteur/guitariste Cédric, qui rappellent des groupes hardcore down tempo des années 90 comme LIFE OF AGONY, ONLY LIVING WITNESS ou SECTION 8. Bien sûr, l'ombre d'ALICE IN CHAINS plane toujours sur le groupe mais on peut noter aussi de plus en plus d'échappées gothico-metal qui peuvent rappeler TYPE O NEGATIVE voire même THE CURE. Avec ce nouvel opus, HANGMAN'S CHAIR s'impose tout simplement comme la référence hexagonale en matière de stoner/doom.
